Okie dokie... well... Mr. Marty Dorfman found this first, so I first must give him kudos for passing this along. Thank you, Martin. An upfront and important disclosure--THE ATTACHED VIDEO HAS FOUL LANGUAGE in it. Not for kids ears. It is an accurate video, however, which any credible medical doctor and epidemiologist would laud. Last week, I posted how the reported 42 potential measles cases at Californias Disneyland is pretty scary. Thats actually a number that compares to the total national caseload not that long ago.... but it all happened in one amusement park. Im posting this video because I saw that two friends pages are sharing points of view rather than scientific facts about vaccinations. These really are friends (for real, I know them) and I truly like them and envy their talents. But these friends arent physicians. And to my knowledge, they have not been directly impacted by the effects of a nasty and preventable disease like measles. Thats likely because everyone around them, including them, are immunized. My friends posts downplayed the statistically-proven and medically-accepted dangers of measles. I, on the other hand, have indeed seen what measles can do to a perfectly healthy person. If the parents of the afflicted deaf and challenged son could have turned the clock back to immunize their son, theyd have done it in a heartbeat. My two friends posts pointed to mythical nonscientific shenanigans-filled Playboy Bunny-tooted reports that supposedly link vaccinations to autism. These claims were unequivocally debunked years ago by comprehensive studies after some bozo issued unsubstantiated papers that, unfortunately, made their way into mainstream headlines. That scientist was later shamed, kicked out of his profession and is no longer permitted in a laboratory. Since I take medical advice from credible sources including medical doctors, lab researchers, the CDC and the three generations of healthcare providers who grace my family, past and present, Im sharing what I think is one of the best depictions of vaccination rationale. Penn? Teller? Take it away...
