Oklafan is saddened to report the death of Ken Lucas. Lucas was found unresponsive in his home Monday and rushed to a hospital, but never regained consciousness. No age was given at the time of his death. Lucas is probably best known for his time in the Gulf Coast area, where he held many singles titles, but was Gulf Coast Tag Team Champion 14 teams with 11 different partners. He also was successful in Tennessee in the late 1970s and early 1980s, partnering with Ricky Morton and becoming a prominent tag team before Morton formed the Rock-N-Roll Express. Lucas has 13 documented matches in Oklahoma. The majority of them take place in late 1964 beginning on November 2nd where he lost to Danny Hodge in a tournament match for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Title in Tulsa. He feuded with Mike Clancy and Torbellino Blanco before being defeated by Hodge in a Loser-Leaves-Town Texas Death Match. Lucas would return for 3 matches in the summer of 1979, the last of which was on August 6 were he lost to Hercules Ayala. Oklafan extends condolences to the family and friends of Lucas at this time.
