Oklahoma Teachers & Parents -- please check your School for this new expansion of School authority MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY AT SCHOOL? -- IS THIS HAPPENING IN YOUR SCHOOL? Oklahoma - A School Administrator sent me this message after reading my article below about Mental Health treatment in public schools in Alabama. --Schools in OK already have mental health professionals providing counselling services during the school day. My current employer has counselors from at least 3 different agencies providing services. At the HS, they schedule kids during electives, but they are still missing a lot of class. My understanding is this is billed through SoonerCare (Oklahomas State Insurance). Most of the kids probably can benefit from the services, but I do not at all agree with it taking place during the school day. I thought you might have the contacts to determine whether this is widespread or something that is just going on locally. --Thank you for all youre doing!
