Okorocha urges leaders to reappraise their actions Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has called on Nigerians in various positions of authority to reappraise their actions to ensure a healthier society. Okorocha made the call at the 3rd session of the 19th Synod at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Aladimma, Owerri, with the theme- ‘Leadership For Salvation: Exploring the Leadership Needs of a Corrupt and War-torn Society: the Role of the Church’. The governor stressed that Nigeria as a nation is blessed with abundant human and natural recourses, but regretted that selfish and poor leadership has remained the greatest challenge facing the country. “ Nigeria is not poor; rather the leadership is poor”, he noted. He maintained that if religious and political leaders aspire to leave legacies that would be remembered when they die, the nation and the world will be a better place for generations yet unborn. The governor, who commended the Anglican Bishop of Owerri Diocese, Rt. Rev. Cyril Okorocha, for reaching out to the poor and needy through his Bishop Foundation for Missions and Development, pledged to support the Foundation with a brand new bus to promote its outreach. He equally appealed to Christians to embrace charity and love one another irrespective of denominations, saying: “Religion is not complete unless we help the poor and the needy.”
