Old Friends Drove out to Marvin Hashs place this morning for a squirrel hunt. Marvin is a good friend and enjoyable to share time in the timber. I have known his dog Rube, longer than I have known Marvin. Grand Nite Champion, Grand Show Champion, Squirrel Champion, HTX2, UKC Reserve World Champion, Indiana State Champion - Rube, lived from 8 week old puppy to 5 years old, right here in my kennel. I had no other dog and I trained him hunting him alone on squirrels and coons. He treed his first squirrel on Mick Hackmans farm down along Pond Creek. He treed his first coon on Don Rieblens farm in Washington County. He won first place registered in the first competition coon hunt I entered him in at 2 yrs old. I put all the titles on him by the time he was 3 years old. A true old style combination dog. Had a ton of fun training, hunting and competition hunting Rube. Effie is my 1 year old Plott female. Trained her same techniques I used on Rube. Made me very proud pulling these two dogs off tree this morning. Rube is saddle back on left. Effie solid black brindle on right.
