I was told that Yip indeed followed Yuen Kay San around but that the relationship unfortunately soured when Yip Man transgressed three times against Yuen Kay San. So, he left the Mainland with the relationship separated. A little bit of “keep face”, “feel good” towards the end there. Note they very politely dismiss the Weng Chun myth.
