Old Word: Christians rebuking obedience to God People act like obedience to God is a work and thus they rebuke all notions of submitting to Christs lordship, because according to them its not resting in the finished work of Jesus at the cross. The truth is though that ANYONE who is born of the spirit of God is given DESIRES to obey him. That is the meat and drink of the holy spirit(John 4:34). What does it say when we live in a day and age where Christians rebuke obedience? Im not talking about works, because regardless the NEW CREATURE in Christ SHOULD desire to OBEY. Paul admonishes time and time again for servants to be obedient to their masters in his letters. Paul likewise teaches that wives should SUBMIT to their husbands, yet we know that this type of union is symbolic of Christ(the husbandmen) and the church(his bride). Why would God reinforce the notion of wives submitting to their husbands, and even servants obeying their masters, but then retract from that and have no desires for us to obey him? Its inconsistent.... God still desires obedience....
