Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 SEC) is out of the running for the West - TopicsExpress

Ole Miss (8-2, 4-2 SEC) is out of the running for the West Division title, and likely no longer in contention for the playoff semifinals. With a strong finish, the Rebels can still make it into a major bowl game while reaching double digits in victories for the first time since 2003. Quarterback Bo Wallace has thrown for 2,556 yards and 22 touchdowns this season to lead Ole Miss offense, but its most productive side has been the defense. The Rebels entered the weekend ranked ninth nationally in yards allowed, at 309.8, and their 11.9 points-allowed-per-game scoring average is No. 1 in FBS. The Rebels, who last time out beat FCS school Presbyterian, have lost two straight in the conference for the third time in the past two seasons.
