Oleg Zheliabin-Nezhinskiy: I think, many of us recently started to realize how pointless is to call for peace in todays Ukraine. The war became the Idée Fixe for many, - in govermrment, in mainstream media, among the friends. If you dont agree with this idea-fixe, you have a big chance to be called a traitor. Мost probably, you have already learned it by yourself. But if we cant stop the war, we should at least try our best to change the way this war is conducted. No matter how it might sound to you, I personally believe that we can make a change, even now, in our time of General Frustration. Please, realize that there will be neither winners nor losers at the end of this war. After all, what do you gain if some of your relatives or friends will be dead? In a society filled with accusations and hatred, everyone who cares about Ukraine should take a simple but truly worthwhile step and try, at least, to reduce the number of victims. This is what we should and can do all together: 1. I ask you, with all means available, to condemn and denounce the practice of chaotic, not aimed, shelling of the residential areas. Yes, most likely, none of the parties, involved in the conflict, will admit to doing someting like this. However, both the massive stigma in the media and public discussion might help in reducing this barbaric practice. Lets begin with the social networks and YouTube first. Then, lets proceed with publishing the articles and interviews in the newspapers. It has to work out once the movement is supported by public. Even a few lives saved are worth of trying, - imagine, we saved a life of your relatieve or your close friend! Do not be indifferent and act now! 2. Please, help to evacuate the civilians, - all women, children, elderly persons, - from the zone of hostilities. Now Im not talking about the general problem of refugees. I am taking about the situation, when people know where to go (for example, to their relatives, acquaintances, etc.), but they are not able to get out of the city because of lack of transportation or humanitarian corridor. A single bus or a car will make a huge difference in this situation. Simply imagine a vehichle loaded with a few civillians, but touring several times, - would not be it great and really important? I am sure, we have to negociate with both sides of the conflit on this issue. But it is absolutely necessary to do and, I believe, it is possible to reach an agreement. 3. I ask you to make all efforts and assist the civillians, who live in the zone of the millitary operations, by suppling them with the basic necessities. In the besieged towns and villages, where fighting continues day after day, the ordinary people, the locals, became hostages of the millitary conflict, and they are in dire need of food, water and so on. It happens because most stores and banks are closed and many people simply do not have what to buy or they do not have money to buy whatever is left in the stores. For such people, buckwheat or potato truck will be like manna from heaven. 4. I ask you to raise the concerns about the treatment of prisoners. You might start with a simple video clip, an articles or interviews. Meaning that if a person is surrendered, he or she has a right to human treatment. Please condemn any kind of torture, humiliation, mistreatment and so on. Trust me, the mothers and families of the prisoners will be immensely grateful to you forever for doing this. 5. Please assist in searching for the missing and captured, make it public and inform public as soon as possible. We are planning to create a special resource with all information, photos, etc as soon as possible. 6. I ask you to collect and document (film, photo, etc) the information about the pilferage and misuse of humanitarian assistance to the wounded and refugees. Please release this to social media as soon as you get it. 7. Please share the information and educate all parties, involved in the war conflict, about harsh penalties for the war crimes. Maybe not now, but later, if not in a year or so, but anyway, sooner or later, all dirty secrets of the war will become visible, and those, who commit the war crimes, will have to answer for their actions. In the best scenario we would like to procceed in all these directions, I mentioned above. However, our resources are limited. This is a reason why I am asking for your support. So far Ive started to do the best I can, but frankly, I certainly need more support. I have already contacted several political parties, but did not meet any enthusiasm: seems to me, they are not particularly interesting. Therefore, I am asking all of you, who can and would like to help, please, write to me in my private message box in FB, or please email me at jeliabin@gmail if you have any suggestion or able to help. First of all, I am asking the businessmens, political and public figures to get involved. To my friends: if you personaly know some businessmen, or other influential people, who are able to help, please share this message with them and draw their attention to this very important issue of saving the lives of our own citizens. To everyone: please help to share this information and contribute to social media by any means available: repost, print, make it public, invite for interview, send your materials on this topic to press. This is appeal to the representatives of all parties of the conflict, regardless of belief, aims and purposes. There are universal human values and humanity, around which we have to unite. This initiative does not carry any political implication. We have to remember: Any war ends at the negotiation table. Do what you believe in and think is the best, but PLEASE remember to be human!
