Oliver Stone cinema director share and comment: “Concise - TopicsExpress

Oliver Stone cinema director share and comment: “Concise Untold History” was released last week. At 306 pages, it faithfully renders the text of the 12-hour series. The original 618-page edition, with 90 pages of footnotes, is really closer to a primer that substantiates the details presented in the film. I am particularly passionate over this ‘Concise History,’ and find it poetic in keeping with the spirit of the series. It’s a light-weight paperback that can easily be carried around; I found myself reading it at the beach. It’s simpler to absorb, and in about 3 reads, I believe you will walk away with a much deeper understanding for America’s recent history. So that’s why I hit the road last week. Great responses at Yale, Columbia, Brown, Tufts, Northeastern, University of Connecticut, Johns Hopkins, Lesley University— as well as a vibrant class of brainy high school students at Peter Stuyvesant in NYC. It was a lot of work and travel but great to connect to another generation. In the works for December is the Young Readers Edition of “Untold History” for ages 10 and up. In Russia, just learned it’s a best seller, and doing very well in the underground in China. amzn.to/1CQrvN8
