Olivier Giroud We have to score at the Allianz. In fact we have to score at least two, and seeing that Bayern have only conceded two goals in a game twice this season, shows the task we have. While the scoring responsibility does not solely fall at his feet, Giroud will need to be at his best and hold up the ball, allowing our raft of talented midfielder to create chances. Defending starts at the front. It’s football basics, but the more we have the ball the less chance they have to score. Furthermore keeping the ball in their third simply gives us more chance to score and Giroud is paramount to our success. He might not be the best in the world, but he is the best we have and he has useful attributes. He will work hard and win us a lot of balls, but it is his layoffs and flicks that need to be carried out expertly. Mikel Arteta / Mathieu Flamini With Giroud responsible for linking up with our creative players we will also need a solid platform to allow them freedom in the final third. Whoever starts at the base of the midfield will have to turn the ball over and ensure we counter quickly. After finding our counter-attack mojo against Everton, we need to keep this killer instinct going at the Allianz and play with confidence and swagger. Attacks often start deep within our own third and winning the ball as Bayern are marauding forward maybe our best chance to get a footing in the game. Only problem is that involves stopping Robben, Gotze, Muller and co. who are all rather good at football. We’re going to need everything crossed and hope that LEGO haired Mik and The Flame have performances that even Gilberto Silva would dream of.
