Olivier Giroud has revealed his knee is OK after withdrawing and requiring treatment late on in Saturday’s 3-1 victory against Sunderland. But there is not so good news for the missing Santi Cazorla who will most likely not feature again this month after sustaining an ankle injury. Giroud scored the Gunners opening goal and assisted Ramsey’s second in what was another positive performance from the Frenchman, but left fans and his manager sweating after he injured his knee late on in the fixture. Wenger spoke on the latest injury news in his post-match press conference: on if Giroud is injured… That’s my worry today after the game. We are very thin at the moment. [It is] a knee problem. He is the player at the moment that would be very difficult for us [to replace]. on Cazorla… Cazorla has an ankle problem. He will be out for a few weeks as well. I don’t think he will play before the next international break. But Giroud has taken to twitter to declare he is in fact fine after his awkward knee twist and should be available for selection against Marseille this week. The Frenchman said on his official twitter page: @_OlivierGiroud_: My knee is ok don’t worry! Thanks for your support! With striking options extremely thin, the last thing the Gunners need is an injury to their star striker who has netted in each of their Premier League fixtures this season. The attacking midfield options are slowly depleting, with Cazorla the latest casualty joining Rosicky on the treatment table. However there could be good news on the horizon according to the Mirror who are reporting Podolski and Arteta could in line for early returns after ‘responding well to treatment’. None of this has actually been confirmed, but regardless Wenger will be hoping that injuries will stop decimating his squad and soon. The Frenchman may be forced to rotate some players this week against Marseille before hosting Stoke City on Saturday, meaning some of the youngsters such as Ryo and Gnabry could be set for a run out.
