Oluwole Okes Rays of Hope Emerges Again on the Horizon. Prologue : it is our collective responsibility Aare Bisi Olusola Babafemi. The vast political waters of Ife/Ijesa Senatorial district and Oriade/Obokun Federal constituency is poised with many fishes for a catch by the teeming masses of the district/constituency,come 2015 for the next leader that will continue the journey of succession after Senator Omoworare and Barr Agunbiade respectively. Amongst these is a big fish Hon Oluwole Oke,Ex Chairman,House Committee on Defence. Oke is observed to have nurtured himself through the ranks in character,service to the people and prior determination for leadership of his people in deeds and understanding of socio-economic content and psycho social composure of people of the pluralistic Ifes and Ijesas. Unlike most Nigerian leaders nowadays who assume leadership positions by opportunism,Oke is equally observed to have cultivated his leadership qualities from a humble background,certainly through discipline,based on several setbacks he suffered as a youth. Like he always told his foot soldiers and followers,life is full of challenges, up and down.From the rung of the ladder,he has risen to become what he is today by virtue of hard work,discipline,dedication and or commitment to every course he has chosen in life to pursue. As a grassroots politician,he has traversed the political annals of Osun and indeed the Nigerian polity,having served as the House number one defence Committee leader between 2003-2011. Aside commitment to service delivery,which is also observed as a major among his leadership qualities,Oke is an ardent believer in followership to any leadership he serves.For this reason,he nurtures followership from any people he is selected to lead,thereby committing himself in service to members of any group he lead without show of class and or being class conscious.This aslo explained why he remain in Osun PDP inspite the huge pressure on him to jump the ship over the undemocratic internal processes that produced the party flagbearer for Aug 9th Osun Guber poll. Unlike most politicians,Oke has forgiving spirit.He easily forgives the transgressions of both his subordinates and superiors.This quality according to him is a demonstration of leadership by example to instill a loving spirit amongst his surbodinates to learn to love each other without inhibitions. This is why it is argued in several quarters in Osun State,especially now that his many followers want him to run for any of the two legislative positions that it is unlike him when he is alleged to be harbouring malice against politicians in the state. Whereas,as a seasoned political leader who made many a politician in the state to rise to the top positions most of them assumed hitherto,these allegations were not noticed in the man until now. The exhibition of humility in Oke therefore led to his success as a private sector investor,first in his hotel and accounting firm outfit and later,other chain of businesses,which have now qualified him as an industrialist.As he used the same platform to provide employment opportunities for a good number of Oriade,Obokun,Ilesa and Ife youths.It is hoped that the district/ constituency will become an investors haven should he assume the reins of leadership in any of the zone/area in 2015. The businessman-politician,who himself experienced the grind of poverty has expectedly reach out to the less privileged in the state and beyond.Courtesy of his philanthropy,scores of youths,orphans and widows have being given a new lease of life while many indigent youth placed on scholarships in tertiary institutions across the country.He has also invested heavily in care of the aged. Surely,if it is on the strength of his accomplishment and philanthropy alone,it can be said that Ife/Ijesa and Oriade/Obokun may look in his direction in 2015,while wide consultations is ongoing as to which of the two legislative posts he contested for,but then in politics especially the type practiced in Nigeria anything is possible.
