Olympus has announced a high-end standard zoom lens matched for the E-M1, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm 1:2.8 PRO. The lens has an equivalent range of 24-80mm, uses a manual focus clutch design similar to the 12mm F/2.0 and 17mm F/1.8 prime lenses, and is claimed to be dust-, splash-, and freeze-proof. The lens offers a minimum focussing distance of 0.2m, with 0.3x magnification, an L.Fn button with customizable functionality, and a lens design of 14 elements in 9 groups, including two aspheric elements. There is no word on pricing and availability at this time.
