Omar’s statement about Gilani is a blatant lie’ In occupied Kashmir, the forum patronized by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has termed as ridiculous, shameful and blatant lie the puppet Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah’s recent assertion that no restrictions were imposed on the veteran leader. The forum spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said that Syed Ali Gilani was under continued house arrest after his arrival from Delhi on March 7. “Omar Abdullah’s claim that he is free is misleading. The contents of his statement about Syed Ali Gilani are unfounded and baseless. He cannot provide any evidence in support of his claim that he has directed police to allow Gilani to perform normal activities and offer Friday prayers,” he said. He added that since March 7, it was 18th Friday in a row that the veteran leader was not allowed to offer Juma prayers. He described as lame excuse the puppet administration’s argument that Syed Ali Gilani was being prevented because he provoked the youth for stone pelting. The youth are worst sufferers and it is the circumstances created by the Indian forces that youth demonstrate their resentment against New Delhi’s illegal occupation on Kashmir. Recalling the history, the spokesman reminded Omar Abdullah that stone pelting was the symbol of resistance and was going on since the day when his grandfather, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, was leading the people and striving for right of self-determination. “It was Bakhshi Ghulam Muhammad who had justified the detention of Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah for same reasons that he would provoke people. And it was because of this that Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah and his followers called him (Bakhshi) a traitor. History repeats itself. It was Bakhshi whom your grandfather called traitor and now it is your turn and you will also be called a traitor,” he added. It is to mention here that Omar Abdullah had recently said that no restrictions were imposed on Syed Ali Gilani and he was free to go wherever he wished.
