Omirins Property Looted The Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr Adewale Omirin, has alleged that values in his house were looted following invasion of his official apartment by Mr. Dele Olugbemi, the purported Speaker installed by seven PDP members last Monday. Omirin said that Olugbemi led thugs and the Clerk of the House of Assembly to the Speakers Lodge, forced the doors open and looted his valuables, including money and household material and soup in the deep freezer. The Speaker scoffed at alleged looting of the Lodge by Governor Ayodele Fayose, saying that as the time he was living the house for Lagos, he left with a briefcase containing few cloths and shoes, adding that he never knew that he would not be allowed to return to the house after arriving Lagos and so there was nothing to give him a sign to leave the house with any loot. His words: I am shocked that the governor is accusing me of looting the Speakers Lodge when he knew that he was the one that encouraged Olugbemi to break into the house. They brought a carpenter and broke the door. He was there with his thugs that held an all-night party drinking and eating even the soup cooked by my wife. They stole my money, N2.5 million; my shoes, wrist watches and many valuables. If the governor is looking for those who looted the lodge, he knows where to turn, not me. What will I be doing with pepper grinding machine, watching machine and television sets as allegedly removed from the house? How can I be in Lagos and at the same time be in Ado-Ekiti? Omirin said propaganda and blackmail would not deter him from pursuing constitutional channel in the resolution of Ekiti crisis. Wole Olujobi Special Adviser, Media, to the Speaker
