Omotik is the language of the people called also Omotik. The Omotik live in Kenya, around Lolgorien on the borderland of Maasai country, Lemek, and Entasekera, Narok District, Rift Valley Province. Nowadays, the Omotik have almost completely been absorbed by the Maasai pastoralists. The majority of Omotik ethnic group now speaks Maasai. In 1980 there were fewer than 50 speakers of the language, all above the age of forty years and most of them women. The language is now classified as moribund by the Unesco Map of Endangered languages since there are only a few elderly speakers left.
