On 06/14/2014, at around 4:20 pm, officers from the Tuscaloosa Police Department responded to the 2000 block of E 4th St on an Animal Cruelty call. Officers had received information that several juveniles were harming some kittens. The juveniles were reportedly throwing the kittens into the air, hitting and kicking them, and attempting to bury them alive. Upon their arrival, officer made contact with three juveniles, ages 12, 14, and 15. Investigators with the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s Juvenile Division also responded to the scene. Animal Control was also notified. Probable cause was found to arrest the three juveniles and charge them with Animal Cruelty. They were later released to their parents on an appearance agreement. Animal Control took custody of the kittens. One of the kittens later had to be euthanized due to the injuries it received.
