On 10 October, World Mental Health Day is observed, every year. It is an occasion to raise awareness and mobilise efforts, as well as to talk about what is done and what needs to be done. For 2014, the theme is “Living with schizophrenia”. The focus is to live a healthy life with schizophrenia. Schizophrenia ranks among the top ten causes of disability among all illnesses, worldwide; and the onset of illness is typically in adolescence. The GMC Psychiatry Alumni Association arranged a theme talk, followed by a workshop on biostatistics. The event took place on Friday 10 October 2014 at Guwahati. Dr. Deepanjali Medhi Das delivered the theme talk. The workshop on “Bio Statistics” was conducted by Dr. Sabyasachi Bardhan, and summarised by Dr. Puneet Mathur.
