On 15 December, a delegation of 19 EU trade and science counsellors spent a day in the north of the country learning more about Israeli hi tech initiatives. In the morning they visited the TerraLab incubator in Yokneam where they met with four innovative start ups. The counsellors then continued to the Nazareth Industrial Park where they met with representatives from Tsofen. Through its Partnership for Peace programme, the EU is supporting the Tsofen project to support cooperation between key Arab and Jewish stakeholders - municipal, business, government and academic , build effective engagement between the Arab communities of the Triangle region and Israels technology industry sector, creating a model for economic sustainability, a more dignified quality of life for Arab communities nation-wide, and a more even playing field for Jewish-Arab relations in Israel. Luigiandrea Pratolongo, Head of the Economic and Trade section at the EU delegation said: “[Economic development in the periphery] is of high importance to the European Union and its member states. It is important for us to show today’s participants that Israel is not only Tel Aviv”.
