On 15 September a new Dutch representative to the Palestinian Authority took up office temporarily in Ramallah. Gilles Beschoor Plug was director of the North Africa and Middle East Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague. The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs asked him to head the Netherlands’ Representative Office until a new representative has been nominated, probably early December 2014. Gilles Beschoor Plug said: “It is an honour to represent The Netherlands in Ramallah and to get to know the Palestinian Territories and the Palestinians from nearby. I look forward to contribute to our bilateral ties and to continue the excellent work by my predecessor Mrs Birgitta Tazelaar.”
