On 20 September 2014 at about 1:40AM Tipton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 170 Andy Drive in Drummonds regarding a 911 call of a shooting. Upon arrival deputies identified the victim, Johnnie Patricia Alston, 51 who had been fatally shot in the home. Deputies determined that the victim’s husband, Dwight Alston, 53, was not at the residence. Detectives responded to the scene and the initial investigation indicates the shooting was during a domestic argument. While deputies were attempting to locate Dwight Alston, he came to the Tipton County Sheriff’s Office and surrendered to deputies. Dwight is being held for questioning in the case. Special Agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and the District Attorney General investigator responded to assist at the scene. Tipton County Medical Examiner, Dr. Buffy Cook responded to the scene and an autopsy will be conducted at the Regional Forensic Center in Memphis. “The family is cooperating in the investigation and our thoughts and prayers go out to them during this time of tragedy.
