On 22 April 2014 I participated in a debate at the The Hague Institute for Global Justice NETHERLANDS:The Effectiveness of Dutch Foreign Policy: Defense and Development My contribution Bravo Mr Voorhoeve , I appriciated ex-defence ministers comments over Iraq war and the US expenditure ( almost 400 Billion Dollars ), he said, if USA would have spend this amonut in helping the developing countries, she should have friends all over. But I criticised the 3 Ds (defence-dipolmacy-development) concept mentioned by former development minister saying Mr Jan Pronk You have been alwasy mouthpiece of Global South but Im disappointed listening you, that you too are supporting 3 D, for heavens sake remove the D for defence, because military interventions are always source of miseries and weapon exports, I said Afghanistan is an example of total failure, which only helped Karzai and some NGOs to become multi millioniar..look at their bank accounts in Dubai or eslewhere KAC The Hague Institute resumed its successful “Inside View” series with a panel discussion on The Effectiveness of Dutch Foreign Policy: Defense and Development. While the first three sessions, held at the Institute in 2013, focused broadly on foreign policy, the 22 April event examined the relationship between defense and development cooperation. The former ministers Jan Pronk (Development Cooperation) and Joris Voorhoeve (Defense), as well as Major-General Frank van Kappen (former military adviser to the UN Secretary-General) were the main speakers. The event will be public and will engage the panelists in discussion with an expert audience. The aim was to develop practical policy solutions, which will feed into The Hague Institute’s wider work on improving the effectiveness of Dutch foreign policy. Dr. Abiodun Williams - Introduction President The Hague Institute for Global Justice opened the debate. Mr Boudewijn J. van Eenennaam Ambassador-in-Residence and Development Advisor The Hague Institute for Global Justice was the moderator of the discussion Contact persons
