On 27 January 1905 Frances Amelia Muggleton died. Frances was the wife of William Muggleton, a brother of my Grandpa James Muggleton. Frances was born Frances Amelia Fincher and her birth is registered in Quarter 4 1868 in Clerkenwell. William and Frances had married on 24 November 1895 at St Mary’s Church, Tottenham. William was 24 years old and a bachelor, with the occupation of “Fitter” and he was living at 7 Mitchley Road at the time of the marriage. His father is noted as William Muggleton (deceased) a “Plasterer”. Frances was 25 and a spinster and she has no occupation shown on the marriage certificate. Her residence was also noted as 7 Mitchley Road. Her father was Henry Fincher a “Machiner”. The witnesses were Henry Fincher (assume Frances’s father) and Annie Burrows (possibly William’s aunt Sarah Ann Burrows). The fact that both are shown as residing at the same address does not necessarily mean that they were living together prior to their wedding. It was used as a ploy to avoid two fees for reading of Banns if they were living in separate parishes, as the banns had to be read in both In the 1901 Census William and Frances were living at 36 Dawlish Road Tottenham Frances Amelia Muggleton died on 27 January 1905 at the age of 36 of “Acute pulmonary tuberculosis: 5 weeks. Exhaustion: gradual”. William was present when she passed away at 109 Woodside Gardens, Tottenham. Frances and William had four still born children which undoubtedly took a toll on her, both physically and mentally, which may have been why she succumbed to TB at such a young age.
