On 27 November 2014 five OSCE Ambassadors were honoured with the White Ribbon in a ceremony by Secretary General Lamberto Zannier and Senior Adviser on Gender Issues, Ambassador Mira Beham, at Hofburg in Vienna. Together with the Ambassadors from Ireland, Lithuania, Tajikistan and Serbia, the Swedish Ambassador Fredrik Löjdquist was among the honoured Ambassadors. This yearly award confirms OSCE’s continued efforts to advance the rights of women and girls. The white ribbons are the symbol of a global campaign of male solidarity, with each member promising to never commit, condone or remain silent about violence against women and girls. Gender equality is an important policy objective of the Swedish Government and the Permanent Delegation of Sweden to the OSCE has performed several gender related events during 2014, like the Life Puzzle exhibition in March to mention one of them.
