On 30 March 2002, at 3:15 pm, Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother died in her sleep at the Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park, with her surviving daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, at her bedside. She was 101 years old, and at the time of her death was the longest-lived member of the royal family in British history. One of her last public appearances was on the 15th February attending the funeral of her second daughter Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon (pictured here with mother), who had died on 9 February 2002. Queen Elizabeth,The Queen Mother was interred in the George VI Memorial Chapel, Winsdor Castle next to her husband, King George VI, together with the ashes of Princess Margaret in a private family service, after her public funeral in Westminster Abbey on 9 April 2002.
