On 9/3/14 we responded to a seriously injured hiker at the 6350 - TopicsExpress

On 9/3/14 we responded to a seriously injured hiker at the 6350 level of Mt. Pugh. Due to a heavy clouds above 4000 we inserted two rescue technicians and a flight paramedic on the trail at 3500 to hike up to the subjects location. That night the weather cleared enough to allow Snohawk10 to conduct a hoist extraction under night vision goggles (NVGs). While we routinely train on NVGs we only conduct rescues at night if it is absolutely necessary. Teams from SCVSAR and mountain rescue from Everett, Skagit, Seattle, and Tacoma were in the process of hiking up the mountain, ready to conduct a ground evacuation of the subject in case we could not perform the hoist extraction. These ground responders were prepared to carry the subject down 5000 vertical feet to the trailhead.
