On April 2007, a total of 667,391 votes were credited to both Oyinlola and Aregbesola from the 30 local governments of the State of Osun. Oyinlola was scored 426,669 votes and Aregbesola given 240,722 votes. The court then cancelled the results of 10 local governments and deducted it from the total votes cast due to non compliance with the Electoral Act 2006. According to the court, the total votes credited to Aregbesola in the affected 10 local government areas were 41, 923 votes while 253,789 was given to Oyinlola. After deduction of the cancelled votes in the ten local governments, Aregbesola was scored 198,799 and Oyinlola given 172, 880. Aregbesola, having scored the majority of lawful votes cast in the April 14, 2007 election was declared the winner of the election on 26 November 2010 with 53.5% of the total votes cast. Yesterdays election saw Aregbesola with 394,684 votes and Omisore with 292,747 votes. Aregbesola won with 57.4% of the total votes, making him to have increased his votes won at the 2007 by 4%. For a man labelled as a thug, an assassin, to have won 43% of the votes, shows that Omisore has fought a good fight and shaken Osun polity and will ever be respected for it. Through his dogged determination, Omisore has helped in no small measures to wake up the APC to respect the Yoruba electorates. It is Omisore who deserved our congratulations. APC has become a vehicle for Gambari presidency. It is no longer serving the Yoruba interests, but that of the Islamic Arewa North. Omisores presence helped changed the party back to respect the Yoruba feelings. However, if Tinubu continues to believe that Yoruba will go out and take a bullet over a Gambari in 2015, Aregbesola would likely end up as the only APC-Yoruba Governor standing after the 2015 General Election. I congratulate Senator Omisore but will not congratulate Aregbesola or the APC unless the party embraces the need for Regional Autonomy before the 2015 election and zone its presidential candidate away from the North. The North had ruled Nigeria for 38 years and based on the fact that the same North imposed Obasanjo on the rest of the country after it had murdered Abiola, the North ruled Nigeria for 50 years.
