On Aug 14th, 2013, around 4pm, Fuzz Butt’s apartment building caught fire in West Philly. There were several cats missing, hurt and injured when we arrived on scene. Red Paw volunteers were on the ground within minutes and were there until 12a that morning. Several cats were rushed to Penn Vet Hospital with smoke inhalation, burns and possible injuries from jumping from a second floor window. In total 14 cats & one pet rat were affected by the fire. We assisted four cats with emergency transport & five cats with emergency vet care. One cat was seen and discharged early that night, while four cats spent the night in an oxegyn tank at Penn. Fuzz Butt had burns to all four paws and whiskers but was otherwise okay and reunited with his owner the next day!
