On August 13, 2014, we lost our firm’s founder, colleague, mentor and friend – Jan Corwin Lindsay, CPA. Since his passing, many messages and tributes have been sent to Jan’s family, Rotary clubs and district, and our firm. They pay tribute to Jan as a great humanitarian, a champion of Rotary, a hero to the poverty-stricken children of Nicaragua for whom he created opportunities for a better life, and a beloved friend. He was all that, and we whole-heartedly share in the tributes to his vision, commitment, passion and energy to make the world a better place. To us at Lindsay and Company, LLP, Jan was the founder of the firm, a highly respected colleague, a beloved mentor and teacher, and a friend. Our firm began in 1975 when Jan opened an office in downtown Ventura. His vision to keep the firms at the forefront of the accounting profession and his commitment to the highest quality of service has led the firm to steadily grow and become one of the most highly respected firms in Ventura. In 2011, he semi-retired and transferred his ownership interest to two long-time employees, Hien Nguyen and Maria Berntson, so that he could devote more time to GoCare and his mission in Nicaragua. He continued serving many of his clients, some of whom had been with him for over twenty or even thirty years. We will forever treasure the comments and tributes they have sent after his passing. He also continued supporting us with his professional knowledge and wisdom as well as his passion for things important to him, his humor and his laughter. We thank him for that with all our hearts. Each one of us had a special connection with Jan and we will miss him terribly. We are committed to earn the trust he has placed in us and to carry on his legacy. Maria, Hien, Alison, Tammy, Juan, Birgit and Carol
