On August 17: 1968: A Saturday: My father and I left home for a 10-day vacation in the South. We drove to Elizabeth City, NC, and stayed at the Vicki Villa Motel, where we had stayed November 10-12, 1966. 1971: A Tuesday: Drove from Austin to Laredo in Texas. Checked into the Holiday Inn. Put most of my belongings in the hotel room. Bought Mexican car insurance. Drove on bridge across the Rio Grande to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Continued to Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. After a brief visit, drove back to Laredo, TX.
