On August 17, 2014 MPP Reza Moridi’s Annual Community Summer BBQ was attended by over 2,500 guests from various communities of Richmond Hill. The event took place at the Richmond Green from 12 noon until 3:00pm, during which time delicious snacks and hamburgers were served (regular, Halal, Kosher and vegetarian burgers were available), beautiful performances were displayed and children enjoyed face painting and fun games! The program began by DJ Takin playing music, followed by a short welcome by Councillor Castro Liu, who Emceed the event, and the playing of our National Anthem, O’ Canada. MPP Moridi welcomed all guests and thanked volunteers and performers for their generous contributions to the event and wished an enjoyable and pleasant event for everyone attending the BBQ. He went on to introduce dignitaries and invited them to the stage: Mayor of Richmond Hill Dave Barrow, Regional & Local Councillor/Deputy Mayor Vito Spatafora, Councillor Godwin Chan, Councillor Castro Liu and York Region School Board Trustee Carol Chan, along with MPP Daiene Vernile and former MPs, the Honourable Sarkis Assadourian and the Honourable Bryon Wilfert. The list of wonderful performances included: 1. South Asian singing and dancing by Hemant and Vaishnavi Panwar 2. Master Chung’s Taekwondo and Martial Arts 3.
