On August 20, Ambassador Cunningham and Leslie Cunningham hosted a farewell event to thank General Joe Dunford, ISAF Commander, for his service in Afghanistan. General Dunford has been named the next Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps and will be leaving Afghanistan soon. Ambassador Cunningham thanked General Dunford for the strong partnership that existed between the diplomatic and military coalition efforts in Afghanistan. He also presented the General with an American flag that had been flown over the U.S. Embassy in Kabul in the General’s honor.
