On August 28, the Thrasher Horne Conference Center on the campus of St. Johns River State College will host the first ever Clay County Senior Expo. The free event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and features informative speakers, entertainment, Health Screenings and a large number of exhibitors. Today the Clay County Senior Expo announced that Dr. Ken Goldstein from Icon Oncology will discuss “The 15 Myths About Cancer.” Matthew Barrett , the leader of Brain Trainers, speaks on “Memory Retention for Seniors.” Diet for seniors, finance for seniors, Clay Transit and Clay Senior Centers will be reviewed. A Chair Yoga demonstration will also be included on the WellCare Interactive Stage. The Clay County Chamber of Commerce will have information on the Northeast Florida Health Screening Program, which provides analysis for more than 30 health factors for only $50 and a PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) test for an additional $20. Health Screenings will be available at the expo and The Blood Alliance will be hosting a blood drive. Clay Transit will drop off and pick-up at the door. Prizes, drawings, information and more will be provided by over 60 exhibitor tables. Plenty of free parking is available with special parking areas for buses. Karaoke Joe will keep the music going on the Dr. Ted Brink Entertainment Stage. Performances by the Allegro Bell Choir, Zumba Gold and line dancing are planned. The dance floor will be open all day.
