On Behalf of Education Department Public Notice- Year 9 scholarship closing date extended The Department of Education wish to advise that the closing date for Y9 to register is extended to 15th November, 2013. To be eligible for the scholarship a candidate must be a Nauruan student who: · is in Year 9 and 16 years of age or less at 31st December of the year in which the scholarship exams is held · is a registered Nauruan citizen · has parental permission to sit the scholarship exams and be prepared to be accommodated with a homestay family selected by the Department of Education and registered through EQI (Education of Queensland International). Homestay profiles will be sent to successful candidates and parents for their selection together with the Department of Education · access to Nauruan Families living in Australia will be limited to Nauru National holidays only or special occasions with the approval of the Secretary for Education · has not sat for the Year 9 scholarship exam in a previous year · has maintained an attendance of at least 85% · must be in Nauru to sit the scholarship exams · must show good conduct and behavior Exam dates are set for: Tuesday 3 December English 9am – 11am Wednesday 4 December Maths 9am - 11am Thursday 5 December Science 9am – 11am Friday 6 December Social Science 9am - 11am For further enquiries please contact the scholarship office on 55673143
