On Bus Instructors We Must Unite ! In the operations and Safety handbook they state their purpose 3301-83-03 is to reduce and prevent, to the greatest extent possible death or injury to pupils. However in this handbook are two laws written which greatly concern me as OBI. 1 K-8 walking within 2 miles of the school which they attend. 2. No high school transportation. Did you know these laws were written in 1914 YES 1914 ! I think after 99 years we need a revision ! And if you look at footnote Members Only Volume 127 issue 6 footnote 31 on not transporting 9-12 it was a possible drafting error and was to read 11-12. Im asking do you thing anything has changed in transportation since 1914? Do you feel comfortable with these 99 year laws? Do you think such things as sidewalks , crosswalks and traffic conditions should be considered? Do you feel a obligation to our parents to provide a safe ride for our kids to be educated regardless what facility they attend ? Do you feel our parents deserve this so they can focus on their jobs ? Do you feel that if our school transportation became more of a community service to help then to enable that parents might be a little more appt to pass a levy ? Parents love and care about their children its time we step up to the plate. This is a copy of a letter to be passed out in Miami County tomorrow .
