On-Call Front Desk Security Staff (100-23rd Avenue South) The On-Call Front Desk Security Staff is a key part of our team at Catholic Community Services. Working primarily at the front desk, this person will strive to provide a welcoming environment for guests, clients and staff while ensuring the highest level of safety for all in the facility. This person will also be observant of safety hazards, reporting immmediately to his/her supervisor. The On-Call Front Desk Security Staff needs to have reliable communiciation in the case of a urgent need and strong communication skills. This position calls for someone who is timely, has a flexible schedule and who is able to work under pressure. QUALIFICATIONS • Works effectively under pressure while maintaining a professional stance and remain calm in emergency and/or tense situations. • Is observant and reports safety hazards or potential threats to the proper persons or department for correction. • Able to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of others. • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skill including tact and diplomacy to interact with diverse personalities and groups. • Have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with CCS staff, clients and guests. • Ability to multi-task and complete assignments efficiently. • Must have reliable forms of communication to respond to coverage need in a timely manner. • Experience with computer systems including database entry, MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Proof of consistent work history and good attendance. • Must be able to work with limited supervision. • Must be CPR/First Aid certified. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES: 1. Ensure supervisor is kept-up-to-date on all work-related issues, problems and/or needs on a timely basis by promptly advising of any unusual situations or work-related irregularities. 2. Answers incoming calls and assist clients, staff or guests with needs. 3. Monitors appointments to determine if guests may enter the building. 4. Observes traffic entering and leaving the building and reports any suspicious or unlawful acts to the supervising personnel when appropriate. 5. Observes and reports safety hazards to the proper persons or department for correction. 6. Assist facilities with building and security issues. 7. Performs variety of clerical duties. 8. Perform other related duties or special projects as assigned or directed. ON CALL SHIFTS 9. Weekday Morning. a. Arrives on site Monday -- Friday at 7:00 am. Remains at front desk until 8:30 am once receptionist is on site. 10. Weekday lunch coverage a. Provides front desk coverage to relieve receptionist for half hour lunch anytime between 11:00am and 1:00pm. 11. Weekday Closing. a. Arrives on site Monday through Thursdayat 4:00 pm to pick up trash around the facility and transport the mail to the post office. b. Takes over the front desk at 5:00 pm. c. Performs lock up procedure at: 8:00 pm on Monday 8:30 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday d. Perform lock up procedure. JOB CONDITIONS: This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors. Other working conditions may include frequent interruptions, working alone, evening or weekend work, working on-call, and occasional interactions with angry persons. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACUITY DEMANDS: The requirements described here are a sample of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Able to hear telephone rings, phone and face-to-face conversation and emergency alarms. 2. Able to speak clearly in person and on the telephone. 3. Able to hand write legibly. 4. Able to read normal size print and handwritten notes. 5. Able to sit for sustained periods of time. 6. Able to work independently and as a member of a team. 7. Able to ascend and descend stairs quickly to move from one floor to the other in order to respond to emergency situations, to walk the entire building and the outside perimeter in 15 minutes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Access to phone or email for timely communication. 2. Valid First Aid/CPR certification 3. Demonstrate mature, responsible judgment in previous positions held. 4. Good verbal communication, organization, and planning skills. 5. 6 months of customer service skills. 6. Computer experience. 7. High School diploma or equivalent. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. 1-2 years of related experience. 2.
