On December 14th the Homeless Angels will be holding their Christmas Celebration for the underprivileged and homless people and families they have helped over the last year. Charlar Place has been gracious in supplying an awesome place to hold the party.. Jen Borgman is the head of the Christmas party and will be putting out a notice to all to get sponsors for the families for gifts for them and especially the children. She has been kind enough to let me help with other things. The wonderful people at Charlar will not only provide the place but is willing to prepare the holiday meal for these families.. My part is to get the food donated so I am coming to you all to tell you what we need.. We are expecting 200 to feed. The food that is not eaten will be packaged and sent home with the families to enjoy....We will need the food items to be delivered to Charlar by Saturday November 29th in order to make sure we have what they need. Shelley Cooper Slee I could use your suggestions if i have missed anything here, and your the expert, you know we will need. 10 - 20+ pound Turkeys 10 Large Hams 10 10 pound bags of potatoes 20 gallons of milk 10 packages of butter 15 bags of stuffing Vegetables, (green beans, corn, carrots) need 65 pounds salads Rolls Pies, cookies and Cakes I am sure i am missing things, but these are the big things and Shelley can tell us other things she knows we will need to provide. I also want to tell you of my special project for the families.. Each family will be given a number when they come that night.. During the course of the night after dinner, and the kids visiting with Santa and Mrs. Claus who have been so gracious to be there with us, opening their presents, there will be some drawings with some families going home with some special gifts for them.. I would love to be able to give each of these parents, gift cards to toys are us, babiesRus, JCpennies, sears, tjmax, burlington, kohls, old navy, disney store, kids stores, so the parents can go before Christmas and buy their own children gifts personally from them. You may wonder why I have left off Kmart, Walmart, and Meijers that have many wonderful things to offer. However I personally do not want cigarettes, booze, or lottery tickets bought, and these are stores that carry those things we cannot control it. Now please understand what someone does in their life is up to them, but gift cards given for the specific purpose of buying the kids gifts need to be spent on that. Not that any would, but it stops that chance, I hope all will understand how I feel about this and the purpose for it, it is about the kids. If you would like to provide something special for the parents, resturant gift cards, movie tickets, gas cards, something they can use and enjoy. The numbers given to the families, will be for drawings for WII systems, that have a couple of games, or Playstations with a couple of games. These special gifts will give the kids and families many hours of enjoyment throught the year. So if you would like to donate, a good system, or buy a wii system or playstation or know of another game system that would be good for families please message me. Though I cannot attend myself, know that this is a project special to my heart. To see these kids have something to look forward to, to see them have a good time, memories of pictures with Santa and the parents to be able to give thier own children gifts on Christmas and the knowledge that the community in which they live care for them and are rallying around them to see them succeed is a dream come true..
