On December 23rd at approximately 5 am, Officer Jay Butynski observed a Volkswagon Jetta speeding on Elm St in the area of the Franklin County House of Correction and he stopped the vehicle. The vehicle was also recognized by Officer Butynski from a joint investigation between him and Officer Cody Guilbault regarding heroin transportation. After a brief investigation and inquiry during the traffic stop, Officer Butynski located over 290 bags of heroin as well as $647.00 in cash in the possession of 35 Year old Nathan Rondeau of Oak Courts in Greenfield, who was a passenger in the vehicle. Mr. Rondeau was arrested and is being charged with Trafficking in Class A Substance (suspected heroin) and Possession of a Class A Substance With Intent To Distribute (suspected heroin). The driver of the vehicle will be summoned to court at a future date and charged with civil and criminal motor vehicle offenses. Officer Corey Greene assisted with the investigation, as well as Lt. Scott Waldron from the Franklin County Sheriffs Office and his K-9 Drago.
