On Eric and Helens recommendations, Gayle and I went to see The Hundred-Foot Journey last night. We found it, in a word, delightful. If you are a foodie, and love to experience exceptional taste, prefer fresh ingredients and enjoy exotic spices, and you appreciate masterful food preparation, aromas and artful display, this movie is a sensual delight. If you love to travel to experience what makes a destination truly unique, youll be delighted by the scenery and setting. It was a sheer delight to watch masters like Helen Mirren and Om Puri craft memorable characters, and equally enjoyable to invest in the roles portrayed by talented young actors Manish Dayal and Charlotte Le Bon. Each following ambitious pursuits with passion, but without winner-take-all competitiveness. And it was a refreshing change to see difficult issues like intolerance, immigration and xenophobia handled with grace, gentle humour and intelligence. We left the theatre completely satiated emotionally, but so hungry we had to cook up some mulligatawny soup and garlic naan bread when we got home.
