On Friday, September 5, 2014 we commemorate: Holy Prophet Zacharias, Father of the Venerable Forerunner According to the opinion of many Fathers of the Church, based on an ancient tradition, this is the Zacharias whom, as our Lord said, the Jews slew between the temple and the altar (Matt. 23:35), first, because even after the Virgin Mary gave birth, he continued to refer to her as virgin and number her among the virgins; second, because Zacharias son John was not found during the slaughter of the Innocents, since the elderly Elizabeth had taken him and carefully hid him while he was yet an infant, in an unnamed place somewhere in the desert, where, according to the Evangelist, the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his showing unto Israel (Luke 1:80). When the child was not found, his father was slain by Herods command. St. Pauls Second Letter to the Corinthians 11:5-21 BRETHREN, I think that I am not in the least inferior to these superlative apostles. Even if I am unskilled in speaking, I am not in knowledge; in every way we have made this plain to you in all things. Did I commit a sin in abasing myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached Gods gospel without cost to you? I robbed other churches by accepting support from them in order to serve you. And when I was with you and was in want, I did not burden any one, for my needs were supplied by the brethren who came from Macedonia. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way. As the truth of Christ is in me, this boast of mine shall not be silenced in the regions of Achaia. And why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do! And what I do I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do. For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is not strange if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds. I repeat, let no one think me foolish; but even if you do, accept me as a fool, so that I too may boast a little. (What I am saying I say not with the Lords authority but as a fool, in this boastful confidence; since many boast of worldly things, I too will boast.) For you gladly bear with fools, being wise yourselves! For you bear it if a man makes slaves of you, or preys upon you, or takes advantage of you, or puts on airs, or strikes you in the face. To my shame, I must say, we were too weak for that! رسالة بولس الثانية الى اهل كورنثس 11: 5-21 يَُّا إِخْوَة، أَحْسِبُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَنْقُصْ شَيْئاً عَنْ فَائِقِي الرُّسُلِ. وَإِنْ كُنْتُ عَامِّيّاً فِي الْكَلاَمِ فَلَسْتُ فِي ا، بَلْ نَحْنُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ ظَاهِرُونَ لَكُمْ بَيْنَ الْجَمِيعِ. أَمْ أَخْطَأْتُ خَطِيَّةً إِذْ أَذْلَلْتُ نَفْسِي كَيْ تَرْتَفِعُوا أَنْتُمْ، لأَنِّي بَشَّرْتُكُمْ مَجَّاناً بِإِنْجِيلِ اللهِ؟ سَلَبْتُ كَنَائِسَ أُخْرَى آخِذاً أُجْرَةً لأَجْلِ خِدْمَتِكُمْ، وَإِذْ كُنْتُ حَاضِراً عِنْدَكُمْ وَاحْتَجْتُ، لَمْ أُثَقِّلْ عَلَى أَحَدٍ. لأَنَّ احْتِيَاجِي سَدَّهُ الإِخْوَةُ الَّذِينَ أَتَوْا مِنْ مَكِدُونِيَّةَ. وَفِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَفِظْتُ نَفْسِي غَيْرَ ثَقِيلٍ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَسَأَحْفَظُهَا. حَقُّ الْمَسِيحِ فِيَّ. إِنَّ هَذَا الاِفْتِخَارَ لاَ يُسَدُّ عَنِّي فِي أَقَالِيمِ أَخَائِيَةَ. لِمَاذَا؟ أَلأَنِّي لاَ أُحِبُّكُمْ؟ اللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ. وَلَكِنْ مَا أَفْعَلُهُ سَأَفْعَلُهُ لأَقْطَعَ فُرْصَةَ الَّذِينَ يُرِيدُونَ فُرْصَةً كَيْ يُوجَدُوا كَمَا نَحْنُ أَيْضاً فِي مَا يَفْتَخِرُونَ بِهِ. لأَنَّ مِثْلَ هَؤُلاَءِ هُمْ رُسُلٌ كَذَبَةٌ، فَعَلَةٌ مَاكِرُونَ، مُغَيِّرُونَ شَكْلَهُمْ إِلَى شِبْهِ رُسُلِ الْمَسِيحِ. وَلاَ عَجَبَ. لأَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ نَفْسَهُ يُغَيِّرُ شَكْلَهُ إِلَى شِبْهِ مَلاَكِ نُورٍ! فَلَيْسَ عَظِيماً إِنْ كَانَ خُدَّامُهُ أَيْضاً يُغَيِّرُونَ شَكْلَهُمْ كَخُدَّامٍ لِلْبِرِّ. الَّذِينَ نِهَايَتُهُمْ تَكُونُ حَسَبَ أَعْمَالِهِمْ.أَقُولُ أَيْضاً: لاَ يَظُنَّ أَحَدٌ أَنِّي غَبِيٌّ. وَإِلاَّ فَاقْبَلُونِي وَلَوْ كَغَبِيٍّ، لأَفْتَخِرَ أَنَا أَيْضاً قَلِيلاً. الَّذِي أَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ لَسْتُ أَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ بِحَسَبِ الرَّبِّ، بَلْ كَأَنَّهُ فِي غَبَاوَةٍ، فِي جَسَارَةِ الاِفْتِخَارِ هَذِهِ. بِمَا أَنَّ كَثِيرِينَ يَفْتَخِرُونَ حَسَبَ الْجَسَدِ أَفْتَخِرُ أَنَا أَيْضاً. فَإِنَّكُمْ بِسُرُورٍ تَحْتَمِلُونَ الأَغْبِيَاءَ، إِذْ أَنْتُمْ عُقَلاَءُ! لأَنَّكُمْ تَحْتَمِلُونَ إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَسْتَعْبِدُكُمْ! إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَأْكُلُكُمْ! إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَأْخُذُكُمْ! إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَرْتَفِعُ! إِنْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ يَضْرِبُكُمْ عَلَى وُجُوهِكُمْ! عَلَى سَبِيلِ الْهَوَانِ أَقُولُ كَيْفَ أَنَّنَا كُنَّا ضُعَفَاءَ. The Gospel of Matthew 24:13-28 The Lord said to his disciples, He who endures to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to all nations; and then the end will come. So when you see the desolating sacrilege spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place (let the reader understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains; let him who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house; and let him who is in the field not turn back to take his mantle. And alas for those who are with child and for those who give suck in those days! Pray that your flight may not be in winter or on a sabbath. For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be. And if those days had not been shortened, no human being would be saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. Then if any one says to you, Lo, here is the Christ! or There he is! do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. Lo, I have told you beforehand. So, if they say to you, Lo, he is in the wilderness, do not go out; if they say, Lo, he is in the inner rooms, do not believe it. For as the lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man. Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together. متى 24: 13-28 13 قال الرب لتلاميذه من يَصْبِرُ إِلَى الْمُنْتَهَى فَهَذَا يَخْلُصُ. 14وَيُكْرَزُ بِبِشَارَةِ الْمَلَكُوتِ هَذِهِ فِي كُلِّ الْمَسْكُونَةِ شَهَادَةً لِجَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ. ثُمَّ يَأْتِي الْمُنْتَهَى.15فَمَتَى نَظَرْتُمْ رِجْسَةَ الْخَرَابِالَّتِي قَالَ عَنْهَا دَانِيآلُ النَّبِيُّ قَائِمَةً فِي الْمَكَانِ الْمُقَدَّسِ - لِيَفْهَمِ الْقَارِئُ - 16فَحِينَئِذٍ لِيَهْرُبِ الَّذِينَ فِي الْيَهُودِيَّةِ إِلَى الْجِبَالِ ، 17وَالَّذِي عَلَى السَّطْحِ فَلاَ يَنْزِلْ لِيَأْخُذَ مِنْ بَيْتِهِ شَيْئاً ، 18وَالَّذِي فِي الْحَقْلِ فَلاَ يَرْجِعْ إِلَى وَرَائِهِ لِيَأْخُذَ ثِيَابَهُ. 19وَوَيْلٌ لِلْحَبَالَى وَالْمُرْضِعَاتِ فِي تِلْكَ الأَيَّامِ! 20وَصَلُّوا لِكَيْ لاَ يَكُونَ هَرَبُكُمْ فِي شِتَاءٍ وَلاَ فِي سَبْتٍ ، 21لأَنَّهُ يَكُونُ حِينَئِذٍ ضِيقٌ عَظِيمٌ لَمْ يَكُنْ مِثْلُهُ مُنْذُ ابْتِدَاءِ الْعَالَمِ إِلَى الآنَ وَلَنْ يَكُونَ. 22وَلَوْ لَمْ تُقَصَّرْ تِلْكَ الأَيَّامُ لَمْ يَخْلُصْ جَسَدٌ. وَلَكِنْ لأَجْلِ الْمُخْتَارِينَ تُقَصَّرُ تِلْكَ الأَيَّامُ. 23حِينَئِذٍ إِنْ قَالَ لَكُمْ أَحَدٌ: هُوَذَا الْمَسِيحُ هُنَا ! أَوْ : هُنَاكَ ! فَلاَ تُصَدِّقُوا. 24لأَنَّهُ سَيَقُومُ مُسَحَاءُ كَذَبَةٌ وَأَنْبِيَاءُ كَذَبَةٌ وَيُعْطُونَ آيَاتٍ عَظِيمَةً وَعَجَائِبَ ، حَتَّى يُضِلُّوا لَوْ أَمْكَنَ الْمُخْتَارِينَ أَيْضاً. 25هَا أَنَا قَدْ سَبَقْتُ وَأَخْبَرْتُكُمْ. 26فَإِنْ قَالُوا لَكُمْ: هَا هُوَ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ ! فَلاَ تَخْرُجُوا. هَا هُوَ فِي الْمَخَادِعِ ! فَلاَ تُصَدِّقُوا. 27لأَنَّهُ كَمَا أَنَّ الْبَرْقَ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْمَشَارِقِ وَيَظْهَرُ إِلَى الْمَغَارِبِ ، هَكَذَا يَكُونُ أَيْضاً مَجِيءُ ابْنِ الإِنْسَانِ. 28لأَنَّهُ حَيْثُمَا تَكُنِ الْجُثَّةُ ، فَهُنَاكَ تَجْتَمِعُ النُّسُورُ.
