On Friday morning, I will be flying out to California for an All Class High School Reunion in the Bay Area. After checking in my luggage, I will walk past the same display cases filled with model airplanes that I used to marvel at as a kid. Ill do it again at 51. (Yes, I do remember the old terminal building as well). I plan on stopping again and seeing what planes theyve added. Flying over New Mexico is fun for me. Its like flying over a big map. After being back in the state for over 5 years, I recognize a lot of places from the air now and have great memories from past trips. Our state is something to see from the air and catching your first glimpse of the Sandias when coming home is special as well. I tell people to take a flight out of New Mexico. When come back and walk into the Sunport again, does it feel like youre home? You will know then if youre a New Mexican or just a temporary visitor. I always get questions about New Mexico while on all of my trips - personal or business. Its fun to tell them my experiences and opinions.
