On Friday, the House of Representatives voted to extend and make permanent the Child Tax Credit for wealthy families and willfully ignored to extend the same to families living in poverty. It also includes Child Tax Credit cuts to legal residents and undocumented workers who pay their taxes, many of whom have citizen children, and over 4000,000 veterans with children. We find it most ironic that Rep. Paul Ryan, who just the day before announced his new anti-poverty plan, voted in favor of this bill. This is a shameful move that has a reverse Robin Hood effect-- the House voted to divert this benefit from people in poverty in order to give to the wealthy.
