On Islamic State Terror in Iraq & Syria. It is interesting to see the level that terrorism had advanced up to. So a terrorist band such as I.S (Islamic State) got as clever and savvy as to seize some oil wells in Syria and Iraq; move a cleverer step up the ladder to seize a refinery. Set up the mechanism to run this refinery and market the products. This, ordinarily, is a feat that only state actors and major oil companies with deep pockets can pull off. Without gainsaying, in the 21st some are making the Sicilian Mafia look like small beer in the enterprise of crime ! Who could have so structured, trained and armed these I.S terrorists ? Whoever it was that did, sure did a good job ! They did not lack Geologists/Geophysicists; Reservoir and Petroleum Engineers and Industrial Chemists, to name but a few, it seems. Geopolitical considerations on the part of some powers gave vent to this monster. Saudi Arabia, Qatar, along with the Western powers, namely, the USA, France and UK, played an unholy role in cobbling together a misnomer of jihadists against Bashir al-Assad in Syria. This was the same error in Afghanistan in the 1980s when Mujahadeens were formed to fight against the Soviets. We all knew how those freedom fighters turned out. Read, Al-Qaeda. Now that the genie has been let out of the bottle, it is going to be difficult to get it back in ! The Americans are now calling on the world, through the good offices of the United Nations, to tame the tiger that they and their allies policies gave birth to. This I.S monster are too sophisticated, but equally untamed and brutal to be put out like a candle flicker. Now that they are also running an oil industry they are awashed with cash. Meanwhile, the bandits of Abubakar Al-Baghdadi, are re-writing the human geography of Kurdistan, Northern Iraq and Syria. Brutally uprooting other peoples of the region that pre-dates even Islam in Arabia 1400 years ago; natives such as the Yazudis. Those who created this monster were blinded by their own geopolitical calculations. The rest of us will have to live with the consequences of their policy blunder again for the foreseable future. Just as the Libyans are now left to their fate by NATO ! To the doors of Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar; the Americans and to a lesser extent France and UK the blame lies squarely. We told them so; only the chicken came home to roost too early and, from a different direction. To this geopoliticos, I ask : When will they ever learn ?
