On Jan. 13, 1969, The Beatles released their Yellow Submarine album in the US. The album arose from contractual obligations for the Beatles to supply new songs to the soundtrack to United Artists animated film Yellow Submarine. Having recently completed their album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band in April 1967, the group showed minimal enthusiasm for the project. Only one side of the album contains songs performed by the Beatles, and of the six, four were previously unreleased. The 2nd side of the disc was the music / score from the film. This was done by George Martin. It was a contract album, but we still got to hear Hey Bulldog! Do you remember what you thought of the record when you first heard it? Happy 46th Birthday to the Yellow Submarine soundtrack.
