On January 13, 2015 at approximately 10:19 PM, a Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy was on patrol and driving in the area of Korbel Winery, on River Road, Guerneville. He saw a white van stopped along the roadside. When he approached the car he saw a man in the driver’s seat and a woman passed-out within. They had a dog inside as well. The man gave the Deputy a driver’s license identifying him as Elliot Malone, a 24 year old from Petaluma. Malone said he was on felony probation and might have a warrant for his arrest. Malone suddenly started the van and sped-off easterly on River Road at speeds of about 50 mph. The Deputy gave chase using lights and siren. Malone pulled over just west of River Bend Campground and briefly stepped out of the van. Other Deputies had responded to area to assist when suddenly Malone got back into the van and sped away. About his time, Dispatch confirmed that Malone had an outstanding No Bail warrant for Violation of Probation and Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Fortunately there was very little traffic on the road because Malone drove over the double-yellow lines several times. Malone got a flat tire and slowed near Mirabel but continued eastbound on River Road. Although he was travelling more slowly, he posed a danger to other motorists, pedestrians, his passenger and the Deputies. At about Trenton Healdsburg Road, Malone was forced off the roadway by a patrol car. He spun-out and crashed into the dirt embankment on the roadside. He fled into the darkness, as did his dog. Deputies detained the passenger, Alisha Ratts, a 28 year old Sonoma County transient. She was hostile, non-compliant and quite intoxicated. She had a minor injury from the collision with the embankment. Deputies, a Sheriff’s Office K9, Windsor Police Department and the California Highway Patrol helicopter H30, searched the hillside and wooded area for Malone. After about an hour of searching, Malone was found trying to hide within some heavy brush. He was taken into custody without further incident. Malone was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for his outstanding warrant, obstructing a peace officer and recklessly evading arrest. The bail for those charges is $20,000 and he is scheduled for court on January 14, 2015 at 1:30. Ratts was booked into Sonoma County Jail for disorderly conduct/public intoxication. Her bail is $1,000 and she is scheduled for court on January 14, 2015 at 8:30. CR#150112-030 Prepared by Sergeant Cecile Focha Media Relations / PIO
