On January 2, 2010, my world shifted horribly and what I thought was the foundation was ripped out from underneath me without warning (and oddly, through Facebook; those tags can be very illuminating). Almost everything I believed in and trusted turned to dust before me--except my friendships. I would not have have gotten through 2010 and onwards without my friends. I am not going to embarrass the individuals by name; they know who they are and what they did for and with me as I tried to make sense of my life and as they helped me to build a new one, one that would not have been possible with the Tower card showing up in living color on my doorstep. The past five years have been the most growth oriented, goal-centric and life affirming ones I have ever lived, a huge middle finger at a few people, a celebration with many more. I am unabashedly grateful for the awfulness that propelled me forward (and apologize for all the weeping and rending of clothes during the first few months of 2010).
