On July 20th of last year, an amazing thing happened on OPKIT. We were sponsoring this kitty Alistaire at the Devore shelter in San Bernardino, CA, and things did not look good for him. He was on his last day at the shelter, when a lady in the midwest saw his picture and told me that she wanted this kitty and would cherish him for the rest of his life. I was a rescue partner at Devore, so with the help of OPKIT team members Susan Onuma and Caroline Willis, we were able to save this boy at the very last minute. A local foster went and picked him up for us, and he stayed with her for a short time, while his new owner made preparations to go and get him. This wonderful lady got on a plane in the midwest, flew for hours to the L.A. airport, while Susan and Caroline had their own plan of picking him up from the fosters house and driving him to the airport to meet his new mom. Susan brought Alistaire into the L.A. airport, where his new mom had just gotten off the plane. She then boarded the next flight back home, taking Alistaire with her to live happily ever after. We are still great friends, and we get many pictures and updates on Alistaire, who is now named Felix. He has hit the kitty lotto... he is loved and cherished in a wonderful home with his new parents, and kitty siblings. What a fairy tale this turned out to be. Happy Anniversary Felix and family!
