On July 8, 2009, was my first board meeting as Paducah Church - TopicsExpress

On July 8, 2009, was my first board meeting as Paducah Church Clerk. I was so nervous, and by the time the meeting ended, I was scared! Yes, scared that I could never be as efficient as our previous clerk. She had helped me that night, and seemed to be able to listen and write at the same time, missing nothing!! I went to the office after the meeting, almost in tears, telling our pastor, (Christopher Rollins) "I just do not think I can do this!" (Of course, my hearing impairment has made it all the harder) But, as I have told him since, his positive attitude made all the difference. "Sure, you can do this, Ms Dorothy..." and he proceeded to tell me just what he needed. (Of course, he needed to persuade me to continue, because when he had called me, asking me to be clerk, I knew they were scraping the bottom of the barrel!!) :) So, I have continued....and in spite of my hearing problems, and uncertainty of whether I would have a way there or not, God has helped me through 4 years as clerk. I thank God for all the things He has arranged, the people who have helped me, the ones who have taken notes the few times I have not been here, and for Jerry Wilkey who consistently sat near so he could tell me something if I had not understood it. Tonight is my "Last Hurrah" as clerk. But, I have to say, "I have enjoyed the job, the fellowship, getting to know our conference clerks, and the knowledge that we were making history, and I was being allowed to record it." Thank you all who I have worked with, for all your kindness and help. And, thank you, my church family and pastors, for allowing me to serve you for these 4 years as your clerk!!
