On June 11, 1975, Ugandan President Idi Amin had British journalist Denis Hills sentenced to death by a firing squad, after it came out in Hills leaked manuscript that he had called Amin a vicious village tyrant. At the time Queen Elizabeth, among others, pleaded for Hills clemency. Hills barely made it out of Uganda alive, but before he left, he apologized for the insult. By the time Hills book came out a year later, though, he made sure to add village tyrant back in.
